The Weber County Library seeks an individual proficient in Adobe Creative Suite with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the relevant education and experience to join our design team! This employee will create library marketing materials, perform website maintenance, oversee art gallery installations, develop program campaigns such as the annual summer reading program, and assist with management of the library’s social media platforms.
JOB OVERVIEW:
As a member of the Library’s supervisory team, under the supervision of the Production Services manager, this employee designs, implements, and maintains Library promotions, marketing, and in-house solutions that create a positive user experience both within the Library and during community outreach. Duties include but are not limited to implementing print and digital event promotions; signage and wayfinding materials; coordinating gallery installations; performing website maintenance; and staging, filming, editing, and posting visual media across various platforms.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Create, produce, and distribute promotional and marketing content for library programs, collections, and services across all mediums and platforms
Stage, film, and edit videography and photography for promotional materials and programs
Coordinate gallery displays and exhibits, including communication with external third parties, (artists) gallery installation/removal, transportation, and scheduling
Maintain cohesive visual standards and branding for internal and external system displays, outreach, promotional materials, signage, desks, and slatwall
Use high-output printshop technology and equipment
Implement evidence-based design principles that enhance the patron experience across all platforms and library buildings
Implement marketing strategies and research to promote the library system to the general public and reach new audiences
Review performance analytics across various data collection for informed strategic content and marketing
Implement procedures for updating web site and social media presence through the design and posting of promotional content
Verify and coordinate transfer of gallery purchases and payments
Remain current in design principles, and marketing and research trends relating to libraries, web content, and social media
Coordinate with internal customers (employees) for the creation and distribution of organizational support materials (in-house forms, policy brochures, etc.)
Coordinate with internal customers (employees) for best use of promotional resources
Preserve safety, appearance, and condition of Library facilities and property

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate training, supervise workflow responsibilities, and verify performance results to facilitate a competent workforce made up of support employees to achieve and deliver superior library service
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in Graphic Design or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field that provides the required knowledge and abilities for the position.
Experience: At least one (1) year of experience as a Production Artist in a business setting required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA):
Knowledge of: Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite. Substantial working knowledge of the principles and techniques of graphic design. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop). Knowledge of Web content management systems. Knowledge of modern print shop technology and equipment. Familiarity with standard software used in business applications such as Microsoft products, especially Word and Excel. Familiarity with current Web applications such as search engines, email interfaces, social media, and eBook and eAudio applications/commonly used devices. Understanding of the relationships and responsibilities of Library divisions and buildings. Understanding of Library mission and roles, and the general role of public libraries within a community.

Ability to multitask a variety of projects, maintain strict deadlines, and achieve desired results. Ability to problem-solve independently or in a team environment, give and receive constructive feedback, and accept creative direction. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, sit, talk, hear, crouch, crawl, balance, reach, stoop, kneel, and work from a ladder to install art. Must use hands and fingers to operate a computer. The employee is regularly required to lift up to 30 pounds and sometimes as much as 50 pounds. The employee must be able to remove library materials from shelves at a maximum height of 6 feet and push library carts weighing up to 175 pounds. Must be able to move about the work area, talk clearly with customers, and hear customer responses. Must have excellent close vision and good distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee regularly works indoors in an office environment or in the library print shop with standard equipment and associated low-level noise. Occasional travel among Library buildings will be necessary for art installations, display and event setup, and quality control of publicity material display space.
Employees must be able to work rotating shifts (seven days a week) and flexible hours (morning, afternoon, evening, and holiday hours) when the Library is open. All employees will work up to two evenings per week and will alternate weekend shifts with the other employees in their division. Employees will also work holiday hours of equal proportion to those of other employees in their division.
